As we continue to scale our U.S. headquarters in Irvine and strengthen our global operating model, we are seeking a Global Logistics Lead to ensure efficient and compliant movement of materials and products across all stages while driving the strategic development of Kardion global logistics capabilities.
Position Summary
This role leads the Global Logistics function for Kardion, ensuring efficient and compliant movement of materials and products across innovation pipelines, clinical programs, and market introduction. This position drives strategic development of the logistics network including transportation, warehousing, distribution centers, and 3PL relationships.
This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional partners in Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, R&D, Finance, and other teams to advance key priorities and ensure operational success.
Responsibilities
- Lead global logistics strategic sourcing initiatives and drive high-impact negotiations with transportation and 3PL providers.
- Define and execute strategies to enhance the logistics network across Distribution and Transportation Management, including Third-Party Logistics (3PL) provider performance.
- Optimize operational and international structures to ensure seamless execution of Kardion's supply chain initiatives.
- Digitize manual processes to improve data accessibility, analytical capability, and decision-making quality.
- Actively manage demand and inventory stability and on-time delivery to avoid stockouts.
- Identify logistical risks, evaluate potential impacts, and implement effective mitigation measures.
- Oversee the 3PL strategy and operational performance of the EMEA region.
- Develop management tools and metrics to ensure achievement of logistics KPIs.
- Build and maintain strong internal and external partnerships through exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the appropriate application of logistics and operational best practices and standards in compliance with applicable SOPs and policies; periodically draft and review operational documentation.
- Foster a work environment of continuous improvement and inclusion that supports the Company's mission, quality policy, quality system, and applicable regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Support ERP, MRP, and master-data initiatives related to logistics, inventory, and distribution accuracy.
- Deliver regular reporting on logistics KPIs, 3PL performance, freight cost, and risk exposure.
- Participate in and contribute to S&OP, as well as company-wide strategic and Imperative goals.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with 5-8 years of experience in logistics or supply chain operations.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or related industry, including working knowledge of FDA and TÜV requirements for medical devices; experience with Class III medical devices is desirable.
- Strong understanding of Incoterms, customs regulations, and international export regulations (especially to and from the US), compliance with trade regulations, and strategies for designing distribution centers and warehousing, including managing external logistics service providers (3PLs).
- Hands-on experience implementing logistics modules within an ERP system, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Experience handling hazardous materials and related distribution logistics.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to operate independently at both strategic and tactical levels.
- High proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and strong computer literacy.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 20% of the time.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs regularly and up to 20 lbs occasionally.
Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000 – $140,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
